Lord Ganesha is well-known god for the Hindus. Lord Ganesh is the son of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. A celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi Puja falls on the Birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha.
The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha clay idols privately in homes, or publicly or elaborate pandals. In every year lord Ganesh comes our homes to bless us with happiness and prosperity. Like all the festivals in India, Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most colourful and exciting celebrations. In India especially in the states such as Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. is usually celebrated most privately at home and publicly also.
Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi is the Hindu festival that reveres god Ganesha.A ten-day festival, it starts on the fourth day of the Shukla Paksha, of Hindu luni-solar calendar month Bhadrapada, which typically falls in the months of August or September.
Prayers are Offerings and prasad from the daily prayers, that is distributed from the pandal to the local community,include sweets such as modaka believed to be a favorite of the elephant-headed deity lord ganesh.
The festival ends on the tenth day after start, where in the idol is carried in a public procession with music and group chanting, then immersed in a nearby body of water such as a river or ocean. In Mumbai alone, around 100,000 statues are immersed annually. thereafter the clay idol dissolves and people believed that lord Ganesh was return to Mount Kailash to his parents Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
The festival celebrates Lord Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and the dispeller of Obstacles.
