Vishwakarma Puja
In every year hundreds of festivals are celebrated, which are dedicated to various Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated on the last day of the Bengali month Bhadra. It usually falls on September every year, on his birthday and celebrate this day as Vishwakarma Puja. The occasion is also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti. He is mentioned as the son of Vasu Prabhasa and Yoga Siddha. His wife’s name was Gayatri Devi. He is believed to have born during Samudra Manthan.
Vishwakarma deity of the creative power that holds the universe together according to the Rigveda and is considered as the engineer and the principal architect of the universe, He is the chief deity of all architects and engineers. He constructed the holy city of Dwarka, the capital of Lord Krishna’s kingdom. He is also the creator of many weapons for the gods. It is believed that he did the construction of the gold of Lanka. He is also called the divine carpenter, and is credited with “Sthapatya Veda,” the science of mechanics, engineering, and architecture.
The festival is celebrated mainly in industrial areas, factories, engineering colleges, and shop where machine are use. This day is observed not only by architectural and engineering community but by all people who use machines and tools. An idol of Lord Vishwakarma is placed in the factory for the puja celebrations. The Vishwakarma Puja ensures that the coming year will pass without any major problem in machines. on this day, all workers gather at one place and offer prayers to Lord Vishwakarma. Gifts are distributed to workers. After Vishwakarma Puja, machines are allowed to rest and the holiday is declared for workers.
